Lumbini is the sacred site where Lord Buddha was born. Lumbini, the most important pilgrimage place for Buddhists around the world, is located in Nepal's Rupandehi district. Lumbini was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.It has a tranquil atmosphere, a rich historical and cultural legacy, and scenic beauty. As a result, every year, it attracts a large number of national and international tourists.

Lord Buddha is believed to have been born in 563 B.C. It is a well-known religious tourism attraction. Mayadevi Temple, the Ashoka Pillar, the Sacred Pond, the World Peace Pagoda, the Lumbini Museum, Kapilvastu Museum are among the city's notable attractions. Similarly, the Tibetan Monastery, Thai Monastery, and International Gautami Nuns Temple are also featured.

The Maya Devi Temple is believed to be the precise location where the Lord Buddha was born. Emperor Ashoka built the Ashoka pillar in 249 BC to commemorate Buddha's birthplace. The sacred garden covers an area of 8 square kilometers and comprises stupas, monasteries, and other structures. The Lumbini Museum contains several Buddhist artifacts, including as historic coins, sculptures, and documents. The Kapilvastu museum is 49.3 kilometers from Lumbini and is associated with the historic city of Kapilvastu, where Buddha spent his childhood.

The nearest airport is Gautam Buddha Airport Bhairahawa, which is approximately 22 kilometers away. From Kathmandu or Pokhara, tourists can take a public bus or a private taxi, car, or jeep to Lumbini.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, such as exploring temples, monuments, ponds, gardens, and parks, as well as attending cultural festivals and events and participating in meditation programs. Visitors can also take a city bicycle tour or a day trip to Chitwan National Park.

The months of October to December, and February to April, are ideal for visiting Lumbini. The weather is dry and pleasant at that time. The monsoon season, which runs from June to September, is unsuitable owing to high rainfall.
